The Optimal Schedule
For A Camping Music Festival
Festival season is here. That means it’s time to have fun. How much fun you will be having will greatly depend on how well you’re taking care of your body. Below is an example of a schedule that leads to optimal performance and maximum fun.
Set alarm for 11am
This is great time to start your day. It gives you time to take care of things in case you wanted to venture out for any early sets.
Drink water
Start your day with hydrating yourself properly. Drink at least half a water bottle. A whole one if you can. It will also help wake you up and feel less groggy.
Brush teeth
This one is a given. Start out your day right.
Stretch
First thing you should do after getting out of your tent is a good stretching session. Make sure to get all the muscle groups.
Meditate
Meditate for 5-10 minutes. Clear the chatter in your head. Think over the day planned ahead.
Sunscreen
Make sure to apply a good amount of sunscreen at the start of the day. This is when the sun will be at it’s hottest.
Good nutritious breakfast (around 12’o clock)
It is important that your first meal of the day is nutritious and filling. This is gonna give you energy to start your day right. Festival vendors often have lots of good options such as breakfast burritos or breakfast bowls. Something including eggs, protein and veggies is always a good choice.
Smoothie
This is a good time to get some nutrients in you and enjoy a delicious smoothie as a dessert. There is usually a smoothie vendor at festivals. Those smoothies are usually priced at $10 each. What I like to do is buy the big 52oz juice bottle from Jewel. They usually sell for $7-$10 each and give you two times the smoothie you’d be buying from a vendor.
Vitamins
B-100 Complex, 5HTP and a Multivitamin are the essentials that you can find in any store’s vitamins section. L-Tyrosine and L-Phenylalanine are ones you would need to order online. These vitamins are good to take normally but they become extremely beneficial when dealing with a festival situation. B-100 Complex helps convert your food into energy. 5HTP is a serotonin precursor. Serotonin is responsible for your mood and your frustration tolerance. Partying can be very serotonin draining so you need to make sure you replenish it. A multivitamin covers all your bases to make sure you’re not lacking in anything. L-Tyrosine and L-Phenylalanine are dopamine precursors. Dopamine is responsible for feelings of pleasure in your brain as well as forming memories. Taking dopamine precursors will help enjoy the experiences more as well as help you remember them.
Enjoy a delicious unhealthy lunch (between 3pm - 5pm)
This is a perfect time for you to prioritize pleasure and enjoy a delicious meal regardless of how it’s going to make you feel after. You’re here to enjoy yourself after all, and trying out great food vendors is part of the festival experience. You can do one delicious unhealthy meal every day as long as you save it for lunch time.
Drink electrolytes
Make sure you have an electrolyte drink at this point in the day. (after lunch)
Good nutritious dinner (between 8pm - 10pm)
This is the most important meal of the day. You need to make sure this is a healthy meal. This is not the time to have a slice of pizza, that was lunch time. This is what’s going to give you energy to rage for all the headliners that will be closing out the night. You will rely on this meal to give you energy to dance from 10pm - 2am. You need to pick something nutritious. You want something with protein and veggies and not too much carbs. Something like a chicken wrap is a good option.
Drink electrolytes
Make sure you have an electrolyte drink at this point in the day. (after dinner)
Take a sleeping aid around 3:30am
(Not for everyone, but if safe for you) Take whatever it may be for you. Some people find melatonin to be effective for them, others use over the counter sleeping meds, whatever works for you.
Go to sleep by 4am
Make sure you’re in bed before 4am. With the sleeping aid you should fall asleep easily, and more importantly stay asleep until your alarm. Use earbuds to help you fall asleep and stay asleep. You can buy a pack of disposable ones from Walgreens or Walmart.
Sleep for solid 7 hours every night
Set an alarm for 11am. With you falling asleep at 4am you will be getting a solid 7 hours of sleep. This is the proper amount of rest that you need in order to feel 100% the next day.
